The deciding run was scored by Burbank in the 9th. After an out was recorded, Brad Ausmus slapped a single. Tony Batista followed and he doubled. Kaz Matsui then would hit into a fielders choice making Burbank the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Although they lost, Caracas did out-hit Burbank 9 to 6. The win was credited to Luis Ayala(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs. Billy Wagner(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. The Burbank ballclub's record now stands at 11-19. With this loss, Caracas has a 5-5 record of late, 19-11 overall.
